Egor Kraft
Egor Kraft is an interdisciplinary artist, lives and works in Moscow and Berlin. He graduated from the Swedish school Gerlesborskolan, Rodchenko Art School (Moscow), Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna at the Faculty of Media Arts, studied under a grant at the Central College of Art and Design. St. Martin in London, graduated from the New Norm program at Strelka Institute.
Egor was nominated for the Innovation 2017 (New Generation) Prize, S. Kurekhin Prize and the prize from the University of the Arts in London. In 2017, it was included in the New East list - 100 people, places and projects from Eastern Europe that have an impact on our world today, according to the British magazine Calvert.
Kraft's creative strategy often involves creating projects on the verge of reality and its distorted virtual presentation using modern information systems, traditional media, multimedia and interventions. In his practice, he addresses the problem of determining the boundaries between the aspect of human irrational and accelerating rationalization inherent in technological reality in the anthropocene era and possible future scenarios.
Over the years, Kraft has been represented at solo and group exhibitions in Australia, Europe, South America, the United States and the United Kingdom. Among the iconic Russian sites where Kraft's works were exhibited are the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Kraft took part in the main and parallel programs of the Biennale and festivals of different countries: the Moscow International Biennale of Young Art (II, V and VI), the Kiev Arsenal, the parallel program of the Manifesto 10, Viennacontemporary in Vienna, Ars Electronica 2018 in Linz, the WRO Media Art Biennale in Polish Wroclaw, exhibitions at the ZKM Center for Arts and Media Technology in Karlsruhe, the Cyfest 11 festival in St. Petersburg, the IMPAKT festival in the Netherlands.
